JBL Creature II White Mac/Win

JBL CREATURE SPEAKERS - I purchased the JBL Creature II around 18 months ago as a secondary set of speakers - just for the bedroom. My initial opinion was positive, they look great and had a nice, balanced sound. I only use them at relatively low volumes (they have NEVER been overloaded, I have other speakers for loud music playing) yet after about a year I found the satellite speakers starting to sound tired and a little rough - even at the lowest volumes they sound as if they cannot cope and are distorting (I have tried them with stereo, PC and Ipod to ensure it was the speakers and not the source). The other issue I have with them is that the bass & treble knobs feel cheap are scratchy when turned. I have to say I would not advise anyone to go and purchase a set of these. I d love to write a more positive review as they are a great product from a quality manufacturer. If you are considering a set of great looking PC speakers I would strongly advise putting your money behind a set of Harman Kardon s SoundSticks II. I have a pair of these also and I simply cannot fault them. Either for low-volume music or turned right up they never disappoint me. They come from the same manufacturer (I believe JBL is a division of Harman Kardon) and really are a world apart. Everyone that hears my SoundSticks II has commented on the clarity and power of the sound, and the previously unheard detail they reveal in most CDs. They are truly stunning.

Still sounds great - I ve had my speakers for at least a couple of years and still love em. A few reviewers say they aren t impressed. All I can say to them is a) that you need to have a decent sound card for any speakers to work well with a computer and b) fiddle with the bass, treble and your software s equalizer settings!For the money, these are excellent speakers. You won t regret buying them.

not bad - Well i am rather happy with the JBL s, came nice and quickly too which was good.The speakers look good, and go nicely with my macbook, now the sound:1. For the music i listen they sound really good. i listen to a lot of bass heavy house music, and the speakers deal with it really well. The sub has a good authoritative bass that is clean, punchy and deep, but does not overpower the rest of the sound.2. I have to admit they do not sound great for everything, as they lack the midrange ability, but for me this is not a big deal, as i said i listen to mostly house which is bass heavy.3. The small satellites produce a good sound, leaving the bass for the sub, they are slightly tinny, but for such small speakers this is not a surprise, a bit of EQ fiddling sorted this out. And considering i haven t even ran the speakers in properly yet, they are sounding very good.4. For such a small system, the sound they produce is very impressive. The system as a whole goes loud, stays clean and makes sure its presence is known. They don t distort at high volumes, the sub is very impressive, and well it works well with the satellites, producing a very good balanced sound.5. The system looks nice too, nice touch on the volume controls, but would rather have a visible means of telling what level volume there at. i haven t really adjusted the settings for bass and treble on the system, altho on lower volume, i have found that turning up the bass helps, as it tends to lack it.Overall I m very impressed, not at all bad for 47 quid, at the end of the day these are computer speakers, yes there no where near the quality of my hi-fi but at then again my hi-fi cost over a grand in total. To be honest there a bit of a bargain really, and well they look good.

Product Flaw - I agree with all the reviews. I was shocked with the loudness they can produce.But one major flaw ive just noticed (believe it or not) after owning them for a few month s now is that there is no headphone socket.Whats that about ???????What a serious f**k up.
